June 7th, 2026
2nd Sunday After Pentecost/Mission Awareness Sunday

PRÉLUDE / ORGAN VOLUNTARY

NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD

BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION  / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)
As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.

Holy God, we come to you, knowing you accept all of us equally, regardless of what language we speak, the colour of our skin, our gender, age or ability.
For you have created each of us in your image.
You have called us to care for one another.
In this place we offer our unique gifts to you promising to follow you by becoming one with our brothers and sisters not only in Cuba but throughout the world.
In this place we pray for strength and courage to live out that promise.
Let us worship God.

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!  (Sung)

PRIÈRE D’INVOCATION / PRAYER OF INVOCATION

CANTIQUE / HYMN: 587 CALLED AS PARTNERS IN CHRIST’S SERVICE

PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Secure in the knowledge that you will never leave us, we confess how often we want to forget the world beyond our doors.  We say it is too complicated to understand, that it disrupts the quiet we need, causing us to stand aside when our sisters and brothers experience racism, homophobia, misogyny, or the violence of war and destruction of their communities.  Forgive us, O God, show us a better way, a way through which we can begin to create new patterns for mission, tearing down walls and fences to become partners in giving and receiving hope and confidence and peace. In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen

LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

GAGE DE PARDON / ASSURANCE OF PARDON

PRIÈRE POUR L’ILLUMINATION / PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

LA PAROLE DE DIEU POUR NOUS / GOD’S WORD TO US
1ère LECTURE / 1st READING:   Genesis 1: 1, 26 – 31
This is the word of the Lord. (La parole de Dieu.)
Thanks be to God. (Nous rendons grâce à Dieu.)

PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING:  Psalm 146
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God all my life long.
Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals, in whom there is no help.
When their breath departs, they return to the earth; on that very day their plans perish.
Blesses are those whose help is the God of Jacob; whose hope is in the Lord their God,
who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets the prisoners free.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down.
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the strangers, and upholds the orphan and widow.
But the Lord brings the way of the wicked to ruin.
The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord!

GLORIA PATRI (594)
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

2ème LECTURE / 2nd READING: Micah 6: 6 – 8

Thanks be to God. (Nous rendons grâce à Dieu.)

HOMÉLIE / SERMON: THE SYROPHOENECIAN WOMAN

MÉDITATION MUSICALE / MUSICAL MEDITATION

NOTRE RÉPONSE À LA PAROLE DE DIEU / OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S WORD

PRIÈRES D’INTERCESSION / PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Remind us that in Jesus you came to show us how to live here on the earth you created with such care. Show us daily the ways in which you direct us outwardly toward living fully your purpose in the world you love. As Jesus gave himself to others may we too know what it means to reach out to others with mercy, in humility and to love all as you have love us.
We know that our common calling is to be co-creators with you of a kinder, more merciful world. In response, on this Mission Awareness Sunday, we commit to doing what you require of us; we will show mercy, love, kindness and walk humbly with you who created us.  Amen

Upcoming hymns / Prochains chants

For those who have expressed interest in singing as a choir, we are including a list of upcoming hymns to give people the opportunity to learn their parts on their own ahead of time. Please sit on the side closest to the video camera, or see France at the beginning of the service for sitting assignment. It is important to note that people should not wear perfume while singing close to others.

How to proceed to study the music on your own:
For regular attendees who read music, you may take pictures of the hymns in the hymn book for you to practice at home for the next service. For those learning by ear, many common hymns are available on you tube where you can listen to them ahead of time. During services, the organist always plays the entire hymn once as an introduction, giving you a head start on how it goes.
