October 27th, 2024

The Board of Managers is called to meet on Wednesday, November 6th in the Meeting Room in the Manse.

Next Sunday we will hold our annual Kirkin’ o’ The Tartan. You are invited to wear or bring not only a tartan if you have one, but if your native country has special clothing, that would be welcomed as well. The tartan is the national symbol of Scotland, but we have people from many other countries here now and we want to include everyone in the blessing.

On November 10th, we will hold our annual Service of Proud Remembrance. Please don’t forget to wear your poppy on that day, and on each day leading to this event.

Next Saturday, don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour, as we revert from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time.

NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD

BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION  / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)

As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.

Our help is in the name of the Lord
who made heaven and earth.
We will give thanks to you, O Lord, with our whole heart; we will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
We will be glad and exult in you; we will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!  (Sung)

PRIÈRE D’INVOCATION / PRAYER OF INVOCATION

CANTIQUE / HYMN: 687 I GREET THEE, WHO MY SURE
 REDEEMER ART

PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we come before you, burdened by brokenness; so many needs in our communities and in our world! Too often we ignore or fail to hear the cry of the stranger in need. Too often we are blinded by prejudice, busyness, and apathy. We disregard the rights of those who are hurting. Fear and disgust can make us turn our backs on those you want us to get close to.

(A time of silence)

Jesus, your grace includes all and by your presence we are reconciled to one another. We rejoice in the chance to begin again, re-formed into a caring communion, that through your Spirit we will be the builders of hope and healing. Amen.

LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

GAGE DE PARDON / ASSURANCE OF PARDON
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING:  Psalm 34: 1 – 8
I will bless the Lord at all times; God’s praise shall continuously be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.
O, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt God’s name together!
I sought the Lord, who answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Look to God and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor soul cried and was heard by the Lord, and was saved from every trouble,
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear God, and delivers them
O, taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed are those who take refuge in God.

Le Conseil d'administration est appelé à se réunir le mercredi 6 novembre dans la salle de réunion de la Manse.

Dimanche prochain , nous tiendrons notre Kirkin' o' The Tartan annuel.
