4th Sunday after Pentecost/ Baptism

NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD

BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION  / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)
As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.

Come, people of God, worship the one who listens to our prayers.
We will worship the one who hears us.
Come, People of God, worship the one who watches over us.
We will worship the one who cares deeply for us all.
Come, people of God, worship the one who offered his life for us.
We will offer thanks and adoration to the one who gives us life.

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!  (Sung)

SACRAMENT DE BAPTÊME / SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
(See Insert)

L’INVITATION / THE INVITATION

HYMN: 501 AT THE DAWNING OF CREATION (1,2)

LA PRÉSENTATION / THE PRESENTATION

RÉNONCIATION ET / RENUNCIATION AND AFFIRMATION
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the one holy, universal, and apostolic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRIÈRE D’ACTION DE GRÂCE / PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.

L'ACTE DU BAPTÊME / THE ACT OF BAPTIZING

DÉCLARATION ET ACCUEIL / DECLARATION AND WELCOME
See what love God has given us that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. Umut Arda Yelken, you are now received by Christ’s appointment into the holy, apostolic, and universal church. Through baptism, God has made you members of the household of God, to share with Christ in the priesthood of all believers. Remember your baptism and give thanks. Be one with us in the church.
Come, grow with us into Christ who is our head. “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.”

HYMN: 501 – AT THE DAWNING OF CREATION (3,4)

PRIÈRE D’INVOCATION / PRAYER OF INVOCATION

PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Loving God, you send us into the world as ambassadors of your love and peace, yet too often we create discord and division. We serve our own interests first, ignoring those in need. We value our understanding of the world you love, and fail to listen to the stories of others. Forgive us for such self-centredness. Help us to be more faithful disciples of Jesus, eager to serve, willing to listen, glad to be of service in his name. Amen.

LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

LA PAROLE DE DIEU POUR NOUS / GOD’S WORD TO US

1ère LECTURE / 1st READING 2 kings 5: 1 – 14
This is the word of the Lord. (La parole de Dieu.)
Thanks be to God. (Nous rendons grâce à Dieu.)

PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING:  Psalm 30
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up, and did not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord, my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. O Lord, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the pit.
Sing praises to the Lord, O you faithful ones, and give thanks to God’s holy name.
For the Lord’s anger is but for a moment; the Lord’s favour is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
As for me, I said in my prosperity. “I shall never be moved.”
By your favour, O Lord, you had established me as a strong mountain; you hid your face; I was dismayed.
To you, O Lord, I cried, and to the Lord I made supplication:
“What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?
Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me!
O Lord, be my helper!
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent.

GLORIA PATRI (594)
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

July 13th, 2025

Some people have expressed an interest in knowing the hymns ahead of time, so that they can practice them.  David and France can't offer choir practice, but we came up with a solution for those who might be interested in singing as a choir in church: People can prepare their parts ahead of time at home. Therefore we have included a new section on our website (below) featuring a list of the upcoming hymns we will be singing in church.  Please see France for more information.

Guy and Gina are not here this morning, so we are asking that as many of you as possible help out after worship with the clean up.

Don’t forget that there is no Sunday School for the summer.

We hope to plan a family picnic before September. Anyone interested in helping with this is asked to see the minister.

Upcoming Hymns
Prochains cantiques

For those who have expressed interest in singing as a choir, we are including a list of upcoming hymns to give people the opportunity to learn their parts on their own ahead of time. Please see France at the beginning of the service for sitting assignment. It is important to note that people should not wear perfume while singing close to others.

How to proceed to study the music on your own:
For those who read music, you may take pictures of the hymns in the hymn book for you to practice at home. For those learning by ear, many common hymns are available on you tube where you can listen to them ahead of time. During services, David always plays the entire hymn once as an introduction, giving you a head start on how it goes.
