ANNOUNCEMENTS
March 29th, 2026
On April 2nd, Maundy Thursday, we will hold a Service of Tenebrae, with the Lord’s Supper being shared. Please join us on this special night. Worship will start at 7 pm.
After careful consideration, and in light of the new freezing rain alert issued for Friday morning, and out of an abundance of caution, the final decision has been made:
The entire Ecumenical Walk with the Cross Service will be held inside the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity
(31 rue des Jardins, Québec, G1R 4L6) this Friday, April 3, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., without an outdoor procession.
On April 12th, we will be holding our Annual Congregational Meeting immediately following worship. You will be sent the Annual Report some days before this date. There will be no printed copies available at the meeting, so if you want a paper copy, you will have to print it yourself.

NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD
BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)
As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Jesus humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Therefore, God has exalted him and given him the name above every name.
Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Let us worship God in the name of Jesus Christ, our Servant Lord.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
Holy God, Holy and mighty
Holy, immortal one
Have mercy upon us (3 times)
LENT CANDLE LITURGY
Jesus enters Jerusalem as a humble king, riding on a donkey.
The disciples proclaim the one who comes in the name of the Lord,
but the powers that be see a trouble-maker, challenging their authority.
The prophetic traditions envision a peaceable kingdom,
but the Empire sees a disturber of the peace, so death awaits him.
Give thanks to God who overcomes all the powers of death.
PRIÈRE D’INVOCATION / PRAYER OF INVOCATION
CANTIQUE / HYMN: 214 ALL GLORY, LAUD, AND HONOUR
PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of mystery and mercy, your mercy and forgiveness are a mystery to us. We fail to show mercy to others when they fall short of our expectations. We keep silent rather than speak up when others are in trouble. We prefer what is easy to what is right, even though your Spirit draws our attention. We seek your forgiveness, O God, and ask that you make us more forgiving. Inspire us with the costly choices Jesus made as he moved toward the Cross, and give us the courage to follow him. Amen.
LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.
GAGE DE PARDON / ASSURANCE OF PARDON
PRIÈRE POUR L’ILLUMINATION / PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
LA PAROLE DE DIEU POUR NOUS / GOD’S WORD TO US
PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING: Psalm 118 : 1 – 2, 19 – 29
O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good. God’s steadfast love endures forever. Let Israel say,
“God’s steadfast love endures forever.”
Open to me the gates of righteousness that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.
I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Save us, we beseech you, O Lord!
O Lord, we beseech you, give us success!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord. The Lord is God who has given us light. Bind the festal procession with branches, up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God and I will give thanks to you.
You are my God and I will extol you.
All: O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good. God’s steadfast love endures forever.
GLORIA PATRI (594) (Gloire au Père)

For those who have expressed interest in singing as a choir, we are including a list of upcoming hymns to give people the opportunity to learn their parts on their own ahead of time. Please sit on the right side or see France at the beginning of the service for sitting assignment. It is important to note that people should not wear perfume while singing close to others.
How to proceed to study the music on your own:
For regular attendees who read music, you may take pictures of the hymns in the hymn book for you to practice at home for the next service. For those learning by ear, many common hymns are available on you tube where you can listen to them ahead of time. During services, the organist always plays the entire hymn once as an introduction, giving you a head start on how it goes.

This decision is motivated solely by the risk of falls on slippery and potentially dangerous sidewalks, in order to protect all our faithful, particularly our more vulnerable participants.
The spirit of our gathering in faith, to bear witness in the heart of the City, remains unchanged. The important thing is for us to gather to pray together.
_____
