NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD

BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION  / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)
As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.

The God of wisdom calls us to worship.
In humility, we gather to offer our thanks and praise.
The God of peace calls us to let go of our cares and worries.
In faith, we turn to God for hope and guidance.
The God of past, present, and future welcomes us into this moment.
In joy, we celebrate God’s life in our presence.
Let us worship God together.
Hallelujah! Let us praise the Lord!

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!  (Sung)

PRIÈRE D’INVOCATION / PRAYER OF INVOCATION

CANTIQUE / HYMN: 448 O GOD, BEYOND ALL  PRAISING

PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of justice and mercy, you call us to take part in our community, loving our neighbours and serving your purposes. We confess this is easier said than done.
We often sit in judgment on those who serve in public life, criticizing any who fall short of our expectations. Yet we confess we too fall short of your loving purpose for us. Forgive us when we have been too quick to criticize, and too slow to join in what needs to be done.

LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

GAGE DE PARDON / ASSURANCE OF PARDON

PRIÈRE POUR L’ILLUMINATION / PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

LA PAROLE DE DIEU POUR NOUS / GOD’S WORD TO US

1ère LECTURE / 1st READING:  1 Samuel 1: 4 – 20
This is the word of the Lord. (La parole de Dieu.)
Thanks be to God. (Nous rendons grâce à Dieu.)

PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING:  1 Samuel 2: 1 - 10

Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in the Lord; my strength is exalted in my God.
My mouth derides my enemies because I rejoice in your victory.
There is no holy one like the Lord, no one besides you; there is no rock like our God.
Talk no more so very proudly; let no arrogance come from your mouth, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble gird on strength.
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, but those who were hungry are fat with spoil.
The barren has borne seven, but she who has many children is forlorn.
The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.
The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low, he also exalts.
He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to  make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honour.
For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and on them he has set the world.

He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked will perish in the darkness, for not by might does one prevail.        The Lord! His adversaries will be shattered; the Most High will thunder to heaven.
The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to the king, and exalt the power of his anointed.

GLORIA PATRI (594) (Gloire au Père)
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
