PRÉLUDE / ORGAN VOLUNTARY:

NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD

BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION  / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)
As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.

Give thanks to God and tell of God’s gifts.
We will sing praises for all that God has done.
Let your hearts be joyful!
We will seek God’s presence continually.
Call to mind God’s wonderful works.
We will always remember the blessings of God and glorify God forever!

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!  (Sung)

PRIÈRE D’INVOCATION / PRAYER OF INVOCATION

CANTIQUE / HYMN: 348 TELL ME THE STORIES OF JESUS (1 – 3)
COMMISSIONING OF SUNDAY SCHOOL
Minister: Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord alone.
People: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Minister: Keep these words that I am commanding you this day in your heart.
People: Recite them with your children and talk about then when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
Minster: Bind them as a sign on your hand and fix them on your forehead.
People: And write them on the doorsteps of your house and on your gates.

Please stand, in body or spirit, if you are a member of the session.  The session is responsible for providing programs of Christian education in the areas of faith, mission, and discipleship and for recruiting, appointing, training, and supporting teachers.

Do you commit yourselves to ensuring that there is excellent education in the Christian faith and that our teachers and students are supported?

Elders: We do, with God’s help.

Minister:  Please stand, in body or spirit, if you are a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother, or sister. The home and family are the primary places of Christian education. You have responsibilities as educators and are partners with the Church in the care and education of youth.

Will you work with the teachers by supporting them in their work and will you promise to do what you are able to nurture faith at home?

Parents: We will, with God’s help.

Please stand, in body or spirit, if you are a student or teacher.
Leader: Teachers, we thank you for promising your time and energy for this coming year in Sunday School. Our children will learn about how much God loves us. They will learn why it’s important to share God’s love with the people in our community and the wider world. In these things, they will look to you as their examples. With God’s help, will you promise to guide them with love and patience and creativity?

Teachers: We will, with God’s help.

Leader: Students, we are very happy to have you with us. This year you will learn stories from the Bible and learn how
to be faithful people. With God’s help, will you listen to your teachers and work cooperatively with other students?

Students: We will, with God’s help.

Leader: Teachers and Students, when you gather for Sunday School, you will see friends you already know from church. You may also meet new friends, coming here to St. Andrew’s for the first time. With God’s help, will you promise to welcome them?

Teachers and Students: We will, with God’s help.

Leader: Will you, the people of this congregation support and encourage these teachers through prayer and practical help?

All: We will, with God’s help.

CANTIQUE/HYMN 348 TELL ME THE STORIES OF JESUS (4,5)

PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Faithful and forgiving God, we confess we do not live out your love and mercy. We cling to old hurts and familiar habits. We nurse anger and envy. We are often so self-absorbed that we turn our backs on those in need. Forgive what we have been, amend who we are, and guide us toward who we may become according to your generous grace. Amen.

LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

GAGE DE PARDON / ASSURANCE OF PARDON

PRIÈRE POUR L’ILLUMINATION / PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

LA PAROLE DE DIEU POUR NOUS / GOD’S WORD TO US

This is the word of the Lord. (La parole de Dieu.)
Thanks be to God. (Nous rendons grâce à Dieu.)

PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING:  Psalm 105: 1 – 6.23 – 26, 45c
O give thanks to the Lord; call on God’s name,
make known God’s deeds among the peoples.
Sing to the Lord, sing praises,
tell of all God’s wonderful works.
Glory in God’s holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the strength of the Lord; seek the Lord’s presence continually.
Remember the wonderful works God has done, the miracles and judgements God has uttered, O offspring of Abraham, God’s servant, children of Jacob, God’s chosen ones.
Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.
And the Lord made them very fruitful, and made them stronger than their foes, whose hearts the Lord then turned to hate, to deal craftily with God’s servants.
Then the Lord sent Moses, a servant of the Lord, and Aaron, whom God had chosen.

All: Praise the Lord!

GLORIA PATRI (594)
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Upcoming hymns / Prochains chants

For those who have expressed interest in singing as a choir, we are including a list of upcoming hymns to give people the opportunity to learn their parts on their own ahead of time. Please sit on the side closest to the video camera, or see France at the beginning of the service for sitting assignment. It is important to note that people should not wear perfume while singing close to others.

How to proceed to study the music on your own:
For regular attendees who read music, you may take pictures of the hymns in the hymn book for you to practice at home for the next service. For those learning by ear, many common hymns are available on you tube where you can listen to them ahead of time. During services, the organist always plays the entire hymn once as an introduction, giving you a head start on how it goes.
