ANNOUNCEMENTS
Next Sunday, we will hold our commissioning of Sunday School, and the first class for the coming year will also take place next Sunday.
On September 19th, the annual Fall Fest will take place at Quebec High School. As usual, we have booked a table for that day, and now we are looking for volunteers to help staff the table. Please let me know if you are able to give some time to let people know that we are here, ready to welcome them.
You will have noticed that the readings today are not the ones that were in this week’s newsletter. The reading that were in the newsletter are actually for next week, as today marks the beginning of the Exodus story.
Upcoming hymns are listed at the bottom of this page.

NOTRE APPORCHE VERS DIEU / OUR APPROACH TO GOD
BIENVENUE, PRIÈRE ET APPEL À LA CÉLÉBRATION / GREETING, PRAYER AND CALL TO WORSHIP
(Se lever / Congregation rises as the Minister enters)
As I live every day, I want to be a channel for peace. May I bring love where there is hatred and healing where there is hurt; joy where there is sadness, and hope where there is fear. I pray that I may always try to understand and comfort other people, as well as seeking comfort and understanding from them. May I choose always to be a light in the darkness, a help in times of need, and a caring honest friend. And may justice, kindness, and peace flow from my heart forever. Amen.
We give thanks to God with all our hearts,
for God’s faithful love endures forever.
We sing praises to the Lord, with all our strength,
for God’s promises declare God’s goodness to all the earth.
We place our trust in in God with full confidence,
and we come to worship with hearts full of praise.
The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity! (Sung)

PRIÈRE DE CONFESSION / PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we confess that we have strayed from your purposes. You set a path for us to follow, but we conform to the ways of this world. You give each of us gifts to use for the work of your kingdom, but we wait for others to do what needs doing. Forgive us for taking the easy way out,
and renew in us the eagerness and energy to serve. Amen.
LE NOTRE PÈRE / THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Forever and ever, Amen.

PSAUME / RESPONSIVE READING: Psalm 124
If it had not been the Lord who was on our side – let Israel now say –
if it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept over us; the torrent would have gone over us; then over us would have gone the raging waters.
Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken and we have escaped.
All: Our help is in the name of the Lord, who has made heaven and earth.

For those who have expressed interest in singing as a choir, we are including a list of upcoming hymns to give people the opportunity to learn their parts on their own ahead of time. Please sit on the side closest to the video camera, or see France at the beginning of the service for sitting assignment. It is important to note that people should not wear perfume while singing close to others.
How to proceed to study the music on your own:
For regular attendees who read music, you may take pictures of the hymns in the hymn book for you to practice at home for the next service. For those learning by ear, many common hymns are available on you tube where you can listen to them ahead of time. During services, the organist always plays the entire hymn once as an introduction, giving you a head start on how it goes.
Upcoming hymns / Prochains chants

501, Ubi caritas
490, God of grace and God of glory
Photos of the week, Aug 23
The taking down of the old corner sign. Guy and Jocelyn had to figure out what tools to use, as the screws were oddly shaped. In the end, a crow bar did the job! - A new sign, designed by France, will be made by a wood working artisan and reinstalled at the same place. - A new number 5 was installed on our front door.
